35 years ago I started a project that changed my life. My father bought a house which was built in the 1880’s. The house was made of three course brick walls, it had a functional coal shoot, and a hand dug basement. We took a year to strip off 100 years of paint, tuck point the weathered brick facade, and rebuild to house to accommodate a forced-air Furnace and A/C.
I was given the task of making the layout, modernizing the utilities, and refinishing the wood-work. I was studying architecture at the time and jumped into the work with-out hesitation. We gutted all of the interior walls, removed all of the doors and moldings with care, and cleaned out the basement. A new layout was made with a walk-in closet for the master bedroom. The moldings and doors were acid dipped to strip off the years of paint, then sanded, stained and varnished to look like new. A furnace and ducts were installed to finish the homes much needed facelift.
What does that have to do with you? I was completely absorbed from then with making better buildings. I am taking all of that knowledge and experience, and hoping to help you make the best decisions that you can to get better results.
